Moving house within Zurich: access, lift and stairwell under control
Start by clarifying where the removal van will be able to park. A permit is often required on public ground, and on streets with tram lines or in a blue parking zone a van cannot simply stay parked for as long as you like. The closer it stands to the entrance, the shorter the distance everything has to be carried.
Tell the property management and the caretaker the date, and book the lift if the building has one. In an old building without a lift, it is worth taking wardrobes and bed frames apart beforehand; our furniture assembly team does this for you. Does the removal van need a permit in Zurich city?
Often yes, as soon as it has to park on public ground. On private ground, agreeing it with the property management is usually enough. It is therefore worth clarifying the stopping place early, so that nothing has to be carried a long way on moving day.
How does a move work in an old building without a lift?
Without a lift, our team carries everything through the stairwell. Anything that will not fit through in one piece, we dismantle beforehand and reassemble after the transport. Mention the floor and the missing lift in your enquiry, and we will put together a team to match.
Which city districts do you work in?
In all twelve, from the Old Town in District 1 to Schwamendingen in District 12. We are based in Seebach, in District 11.
What drives the price of a city move?
